Privacy Policy

MindLight (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a macOS menu bar utility that dims background windows. This policy explains what information the app handles.

Summary

MindLight does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to our servers. We do not operate user accounts, analytics, or advertising in the app.

Data stored on your device

Your preferences (such as dimming intensity, colors, and toggles) are saved locally using macOS UserDefaults on your Mac. This data never leaves your device unless you back up your Mac through Apple’s own backup services (e.g. Time Machine, iCloud).

Window information

To position the dim overlay, MindLight reads metadata about on-screen windows (such as position and size) through standard macOS APIs. The app does not capture screenshots, record screen content, or send window information over the network.

Wallpaper tint (optional feature)

If you enable wallpaper-aware tinting, MindLight reads your desktop wallpaper image locally to compute an average color. That processing happens entirely on your Mac.

Third-party services

The app does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Downloads and updates are distributed through the Apple App Store, which is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Children

MindLight is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
