Quick answers
- How do I turn dimming on or off?
- Click the MindLight icon in your menu bar and choose Enable Dimming or Disable Dimming.
- Where are Preferences?
- Menu bar icon → Preferences… (or press ⌘, while the app is active).
- What’s the difference between Behind window and Spotlight?
- Behind window slips a dim layer under your active window so other apps fade. Spotlight (cutout) dims the whole screen except a hole that follows the front window.
- Why does dimming disappear in full screen?
- MindLight hides the overlay when the front app is truly full screen (movies, games, presentations) so nothing covers your content.
- Does MindLight collect my data?
- No. All settings stay on your Mac. See our Privacy Policy.
- What macOS version do I need?
- macOS 15.7 or later.
System requirements
- Mac with Apple Silicon or Intel processor
